Inclusion
Inclusion of all youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds is important at VR Institute. For instance, those unable to physically attend sessions due mobility concerns, sessions will be held virtually.
Advocacy
VR Institute will be the voice its clients need to navigate this particular transition period of their lives. Self-advocacy will also be instilled in clients so that they will be able to effectively communicate their needs.
Productivity
The goal is to create productive youth and young adults. who experience difficulty obtaining and maintaining employment.

The ultimate goal is for clients to achieve a quality, stable, and self-sustained life.
Founder
Dr. SASHA SMITH, PhD received her doctorate in Rehabilitation Counselor Education with a minor in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Smith’s clinical background includes guidance counseling, social work, health services, and rehabilitation counseling. She conducts research on employment outcomes of persons with disabilities, advocacy as an intervention for this population, intersectionality theory, educational outcomes, and transition-age youth and young adults with disabilities and mental health concerns.
